My motion calling for a publicly published independent review of the Lucan
Pool development was agreed and passed at this week’s Council meeting. It
will focus on delays, cost overruns, procurement compliance, Council
interventions, public communication and lessons to prevent similar issues in
future capital projects.
I continue to work hard to find a solution that ensures any changes to Lucan’s
road layout cause no negative impact on motorists, while prioritising
pedestrian safety, traffic flow, and protecting village trade.
My amended motion was passed at this week’s Council meeting asking the
council to pause implementation of the planned road design (the bus stop
relocation) and only proceed after a peak-traffic assessment and full
consultation with local councillors, businesses and residents.
I believe this balanced approach gives us the best chance of arriving at a design
that works for everybody in Lucan.
