MOTION: Councillor L. O’Toole
That the Chief Executive provide an update on the agreed motion passed to design a roundabout at the T-junction Esker Lane/Manor, if it can be confirmed that this has been placed onto a programme of works.
REPORT:
This issue was raised in the December 2020 ACM and at this time a commitment was made to investigate options at the location. A roundabout is not recommended at the location as this will not remove any perceived sight line issues. It is proposed to install traffic calming in the form of a bus table similar to that which is in place on the Northern approach to the junction and warning signage so as to calm traffic speeds on the approach to this junction. The Traffic Section will add this location to the preliminary Lucan Electoral Area Traffic Calming Proposal List for 2023. When this list is complete, it will be firstly be emailed to all the members. A week after receipt of this list it is proposed to carry out a workshop with the elected members to review the Traffic Calming proposals list prior to the Council advertising the works for public consultation. For those proposed schemes where SDCC receive overwhelming positive support during the public consultation: SDCC traffic section will deliver those most supported traffic calming schemes in 2023.
