COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, February 24, 2015
MOTION NO. 8
MOTION: Councillor L. O’Toole
“That this Council re-examines the level of noise pollution that the residents of Moyglass are currently being exposed to emanating from the Outer Ring Road with a view to ascertaining the need for a noise attenuation barrier.”
REPORT:
The Council is mandated to comply with the Dublin Agglomeration Noise Action Plan 2013 -2018 as resources are provided and has appointed a consulting engineer to examine and report on South Dublin County Council’s obligations under the Plan.
This report will identify areas within the jurisdiction of South Dublin County Council where high traffic noise levels are predicted to be experienced at sensitive receptors from published noise maps.
Following the identification of these areas, it is proposed to carry out noise monitoring to confirm the elevated noise levels and recommend mitigation as appropriate.
The consulting engineer is expected to report on his findings in April.
