MOTION NO. 16
MOTION: Councillor L. O’Toole
“That this Area Committee askes the Chief Executive to examine the bottle banks located on Griffeen road between Moy Glas and Castle Riada. This area is subjected to ongoing illegal dumping. The introduction of CCTV to be also considered. This committee commends the park rangers for their part in constantly arranging pickup of the rubbish that is located at hot spots in the Lucan and Palmerstown area at the request of residents and local councillors.”
REPORT:
Illegal dumping around Bottle Banks in the Lucan (and other areas) is a major problem.
The locations referred to will be examined to determine suitability for CCTV and ancillary environmental monitoring services as appropriate, subject to resources available, and are also included in the routine partol of the Litter Warden Service.
The commendation of staff as outlined in the motion will be related and as always, the Council welcomes any suggestions for additional measures which could lead to the minimisation of illegal dumping at these facilities, and in the identification of culprits engaged in such anti-social behaviour.
