MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 18

MOTION: Councillor L. O’Toole

“That this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to report on the current status of the handover of the newly completed Adamstown Community/Sports Hall and to review reasons for delays to date. There have been many meeting held over the last two years and plans were put into place to ensure that these unnecessary delays would not arise and it is regretful that both the school and community have to look at a community hall in their locality and not be in a position to access it.

The committee also acknowledges the work and commitment by the local community reps and volunteers that have worked on the many issues and challenges over the years.”

 

REPORT:

The Law Department is continuing to work with the Vendors Legal team and is pursuing the submission of all remaining outstanding documentation which must be submitted to the complete the Contract of Sale. The Contract of Sale must be completed and clear clean title to the facility demonstrated before the Council can legally accept handover of the new Community facility. It is expected that the contract can be signed by the end of April.

The Contractor is also working to complete any remaining snags identified within the building.

The Council fully recognises the work and commitment of the volunteers and community reps in the local community over the years and will rely on this ongoing commitment and support to ensure the new facility is a success and meets the needs of the local Adamstown Community
