As someone who has been actively involved with Neighbourhood Watch in my estate I appreciated how sharing information and advice between neighbours and the Gardai could help highlight and possibly reduce anti-social behaviour and crime. Through contacts in other parts of Lucan I could see that even though Lucan had a number of active Neighbourhood watch groups there was no effective exchange of information between them. In 2014 I held a public meeting to discuss Neighbourhood Watch in Lucan and how it could be more effective. Following the meeting I formed Lucan Neighbourhood Watch Network. Today the LNWN has an active facebook account which facilitates sharing information between Lucan residents, Residents Associations and Neighbourhood Watch groups. Other areas outside Lucan have copied our model and set up their own Neighbourhood Watch Networks. Check our Facebook group here.
