That this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to commence engagement with the
Lucan Festival Committee, Lucan Tidy Towns, elected members and other relevant stakeholders
regarding arrangements for the Christmas tree and associated seasonal lighting/events on
Lucan Village Green for Christmas 2026 and future years, including consideration of the most
appropriate location for the tree, associated infrastructure requirements, planting and
landscaping considerations and the potential ongoing role of community groups in supporting
and enhancing the Village Green as a focal civic and community space within Lucan Village.

REPORT:
The Lucan Village enhancement scheme is nearing completion with the Village Green now
reopened. The Council will continue to interact as required with the Village Festival Committee
and associated stakeholders to assist in providing for effective operations in the Village during
the Christmas period. An appropriate location for the tree will be selected in consultation with
the relevant stakeholders taking congnisance of the location of the power supply. The role of
community groups such as Lucan Tidy Towns and the Festival Committee is appreciated by the
Council and we will continue to work proactively with such groups.
