“The success of the Park Runs within our County continues to grow and much of this success is down to the volunteers as it is the participants. There is a demand for a Junior Park run in Griffeen Park. A number of volunteers are prepared to set this up. This committee requests the Chief Executive to support and assist this new group. Details can be provided.”

REPORT:

Park Run has been a great success within South Dublin County – we have 4 venues currently in operation; Tymon Park, Waterstown Park, Griffeen Valley Park & Corkagh Park with an average of 500 runners participating in the free timed 5km event across all 4 venues every Saturday morning at 9.30am

The introduction of a junior park run is currently being explored and possible venues are being considered, Griffeen being one of a few under consideration. Junior park run is a separate event to the senior programme and is run on a Sunday morning ay 9.30am with participants completing 2km each week.
