COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, February 27, 2018
MOTION NO. 16
MOTION: Councillor L. O’Toole
“That this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to examine the reinstatement of a dedicated SDZ team. Issues within Adamstown continue to be received and a number of planning applications are expected over the following months and some overlapping, and whilst this committee acknowledges that efforts are been made to address a number of these issues, ideally a structure needs to be put in place to allow for issues to be addressed in a fair and timely manner.”
REPORT:
The delivery of the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) Planning Scheme is being managed by the Land Use Planning and Transport (LUPT) Department. A dedicated point of contact in Forward Planning Section of the LUPT Department oversees pre-planning discussion on planning applications, whilst the Development Management section of the LUPT Department are responsible for the assessment of SDZ planning applications. All subsequent compliance issues arising are addressed by each of the relevant service departments, for example, all community related matters are managed by the Community Department and so forth. Allied to this, should any issues pertaining to enforcement be raised, these are addressed by the Development Management section of the LUPT Department.
The delivery of the Adamstown SDZ Planning Scheme is currently being managed in accordance with the resources allocated to the LUPT Department, in accordance with South Dublin County Council’s Workforce Plan. As it stands, there is no provision within the Workforce Plan for a dedicated Adamstown SDZ team. However, this is a matter that will be kept under review as the implementation of Adamstown SDZ advances.
