Testimonials

Shane Ross

“Liona has been consistently involved in pursuing my department in regard to Lucan Swimming pool.

She also recognized the importance of community involvement and brought to ‘pool4Lucan’ campaign to my attention. Liona along with Cllr Guss OConnell arranged for Helen Farrell to meet with me and witnessed signing the final document. I wish the people of Lucan the very best of luck with this long awaited facility. I look forward to continue working with Liona and Guss going forward.”

I know Liona not only as a councillor, but as a local resident, who has encouraged young and not so young, to get active for the last 11 years. She has done this through her organising of the annual Lucan Operation Transformation initiative, which has been a stepping stone for many to join walking or running groups or (like herself) participate in Griffeen parkrun. She is also a member of the core team of Griffeen junior parkrun. Liona is a great asset to the team and is not afraid to roll her sleeves up and give a hand whenever needed.  She will often be found wearing a volunteer hi-viz vest giving high 5’s on a Sunday morning.  Her enthusiasm is infectious and it is clear to see the enjoyment she gets out of seeing children getting exercise in a fun, safe and healthy way.”

“Liona has been pivotal in the development of our junior section over a number of years. She has made numerous successful representations on behalf of our club to the council and other bodies. She has actively encouraged other sports and schools to avail of our astro turf facility. I’ve no doubt that she will continue to be a great councillor for Lucan

I know Liona because of her involvement with resident associations, schools and clubs in the Lucan area. She is a very energetic and positive person and has a great community spirit. She is so proud of her role as a Councillor and has added great value to that role. I really admire her enthusiasm for all that is good and healthy and she is such a good role model for ladies in particular and indeed for all of us.  I wish her well.”
