MOTION NO. 8

MOTION: Councillor L. O’Toole

“That this Committee requests the Chief Executive provide an update on the opening of the Adamstown Sports/Community Hall and to also report on the set up of the Management board.”

 

REPORT:

It is anticipated that the construction of the new Adamstown Community Centre/Sports will be completed in the next few weeks. The building will then be handed over to SDCC subject to completion of all the necessary legal agreements and completion of any snags should they arise when building assessment is completed.

The Community Services Dept. in the meantime have had ongoing meetings with the DDLETB to discuss and agree the necessary supports required to assist with the management and operation of the building. It is hoped these agreements will be finalised in the coming few weeks.

Discussions have also been ongoing with the local Adamstown Community Input Group in relation to the set up of the new Management Committee. Meetings have also been set up with the Principal of the School to discuss arrangement for the shared usage of the Sports Hall.
